5 Easy Ways to Keep Your Ruler from Slipping

A couple of weeks ago Nancy showed us her Quilters' Select square ruler which was unique for its non slip backing.  These are highly rated rulers and are not inexpensive.  This small 6.5" square ruler retails locally at $42 Cdn.

At that price we're probably only going to have one or two in our collection.  But you only need to have one session squaring up a quilt's worth of blocks with a slippery ruler to make that price seem worth it just to avoid another headache like that.  If you are looking for a less pricey solution you might find it here in this tutorial.

At one time we all had more kitchen products in our sewing rooms than in the kitchen--freezer paper, parchment paper and Press and Seal plastic wrap, to name a few.  I still have some rulers with Press and Seal on the back so that must have been a solution to ruler slippage at some time and it does work quite well.  I've also sampled a spray on Odif product called Grippy which worked but would probably be hard to find locally and is neither cheap nor permanent.  But at $6, I think I might start with the medical tape and see how that works.  I might even have some on hand in my first aid kit.
