Easy Heart Blocks

The Virtual Guild I belong to is having a summer swap.  We are learning a new block every month and sending them in to our host in California in an attempt to win them all.  I had lots of leftover pink blocks from a baby quilt I made for my sister and was trying to think of something I could do with them when this cute pattern came along.

2.5" HST blocks

There are two layouts for the block--one with the center square and one without.  You simply change the orientation of the center blocks to change the pattern.  I made four and  sent one to California since we can only enter one block for the draw.  The other three I will probably mail to the winner or just throw them into my orphan block stack if the winner doesn't want them.  I have lots and lots of 5" squares cut from my scraps and I think I might make a scrappy lap quilt with this pattern.  I'll just keep a stack of them by my sewing machine and stitch a few every time I sit down at the machine and they should stack up in no time.  Once the HST's are made the whole block goes together in less than 10 minutes.

I think they need some sashing in between
