Meeting Update for April 30, 2024

We met at Marybeth's this week with all in attendance except Sharon and Adrienne.  Joyce delivered three tops newly labelled and Colleen delivered her Mile a Minute, also with a beautiful label.  Apologies for the poor quality of all my photos.

Colleen had two new tops to show us.  This is a largish bed quilt that Colleen will probably keep for herself.  She hasn't decided on the quilting yet or the thread and she might even opt to send it out for quilting.  The prints were from jelly roll strips with some extras added in.

The second top will probably also be added to Colleen's personal collection just because the blues and greens of the batik jelly roll are so pleasing and cheerful.  She bought the jelly roll (20 strips) at Joann's Fabrics in Bellingham.  The layout is quite simple, but Colleen suggests numbering each unit to keep them in order.

Taffy quilt

This is the Villa Rosa pattern for the Taffy quilt.  You can find the full instructions in the Patterns section of the blog.

Penny was busy working on the binding on her cute Noah's Ark baby quilt which will be a PSQG Community Quilts donation.

Marybeth was also working on the binding for her Trellis quilt.  Marybeth had some of her paper pieced trees up on her design wall.  They are in very soft greens and aquas with various types of off white barks, one which even looks like birch.  Marybeth's son insisted on her adding a tree with brown bark which is a nice addition to the grouping.  Still a few more trees to be added before the quilt gets assembled.  Once again, apologies for the very poor quality of my photos.

Sue's renos are continuing.  I am very envious of her sun room.  I think we all need one of those.  Sue, some interior and garden photos would be a welcome addition to our blog.  I think we might have scared you off when the photo of you working on the roof sent us all into a tizzy.

Joyce's Dad is here from Kamloops so her quilting won't get as much of her time as before but we have a good sized inventory of quilts now (14 or 15 on hand and a few more in the works) so everyone can get caught up on your personal projects if you would like.

Joyce has announced a get together at the Double One Restaurant on Hastings in Burnaby Heights in celebration of Michi's birthday.  The date is Thursday, May 23rd at 11:30 am.  Everyone is welcome. Joyce will probably order a cake and what would be a birthday party without one?  The cost will be divided between the attendees and we will be treating Michi, of course and probably Deimi as well.    Please RSVP to Joyce so she can compile the numbers.
